Gonda: Gonda District Magistrate Priyanka Niranjan has issued strict directions to officials to ensure transparency, accountability and quality in the utilisation of Area Panchayat funds and the implementation of rural development projects.
A review meeting chaired by the District Magistrate was held at the Collectorate auditorium on Tuesday to examine the approval and progress of works proposed under the Area Panchayat Fund, along with the implementation of public welfare and rural development schemes. Block Pramukh Administrators, Block Development Officers and Assistant Development Officers attended the meeting.
Reviewing the progress of works proposed under the Area Panchayat Fund, the District Magistrate directed officials to ensure that funds are utilised transparently, according to priorities and strictly in the public interest. She said priority should be given to development projects that provide direct and maximum benefits to rural residents.
No Compromise on Quality
The District Magistrate made it clear that negligence at any level in rural development works would not be tolerated. She instructed officials to maintain quality standards and proper documentation from the approval stage through completion of every project.
Officials were directed to conduct regular inspections and physical verification of approved works. Continuous monitoring should be carried out to ensure the quality of construction materials, compliance with prescribed standards and timely progress of projects.
Focus on Sustainable Public Utility
The District Magistrate emphasised that rural development should not be limited merely to completing construction work. Projects must provide lasting and meaningful benefits to the public. Officials were asked to assess the utility of each project and ensure that rural residents derive tangible benefits from the facilities created.
She said providing better facilities to rural communities is one of the administration’s key responsibilities. Officials were therefore directed to remain active at the field level, address public grievances promptly and maintain continuous supervision of development works.
Welfare Schemes Must Meet Deadlines
The District Magistrate said ensuring that eligible beneficiaries receive the benefits of welfare schemes on time remains among the administration’s highest priorities. She directed all officials to work in coordination and ensure that development and welfare programmes are completed within the stipulated deadlines.
She warned that responsibility would be fixed on officials if unnecessary delays were found in the execution of development projects. Officials were also instructed to maintain transparency and accountability while ensuring effective implementation of schemes in accordance with government directives.
Rural Needs and Schemes Reviewed
The meeting also included a point-by-point review of basic requirements in rural areas, the progress of development projects, proposals under the Area Panchayat Fund and the implementation of various public welfare schemes.
The District Magistrate directed officials to strengthen field-level monitoring and ensure that the benefits of government schemes reach the last-mile beneficiaries. She also stressed the need for regular supervision of development works to ensure their timely and quality completion.
Chief Development Officer Dayanand Prasad, DC-NRLM J.N. Rao, District Panchayati Raj Officer, Block Pramukh Administrators from all development blocks and other officials from concerned departments were present at the meeting.
